Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Shaheedi Smarak’ dedicated to the ‘First War of Independence’ being built in Ambala Cantonment will stand as an extraordinary symbol of patriotism, valour, and sacrifice. He said that Samarak will not only preserve India’s historical heritage but will also serve as a powerful source of inspiration for future generations, especially the youth.

The Chief Minister was inspecting the under-construction site of the Samarak in Ambala Cantonment on Thursday. The Samarak is in its final stages of completion. Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij, senior officers of the state government, historians, design experts, and officers of the concerned departments were also present on the occasion.

A tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives – Chief Minister

During the detailed inspection, the Chief Minister appreciated the quality of construction, historical representation, and integration of modern technology. He said that the Samarak would be a true tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s freedom.  He said that this Samarak will inspire the youth with patriotism, sacrifice, and dedication to the nation.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that Haryana has always been a land of brave warriors and martyrs, and the state government is continuously working to preserve the memories of freedom fighters and national heroes. He said that the Samarak will be a unique blend of modern technology, historical facts, and grand architecture, making it a major attraction for tourists and researchers from across the world.

Directions issued to complete remaining work promptly

During the visit, the Chief Minister directed officers to complete the remaining minor works of the Samarak on a priority basis. He stressed that authenticity of historical facts and quality of presentation must be ensured in every section so that visitors can experience the true glory of India’s freedom struggle.

A national centre of patriotic consciousness – Chief Minister

The Chief Minister said that the Samarak is not just a structure but a national centre of patriotic consciousness that will keep the spirit of nationalism alive. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, several efforts are being made across the country under the “Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal” to highlight the contributions of freedom fighters for the younger generation, and this Samarak will be an important link in that direction.

Appreciation for Energy Minister

The Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of the Energy Minister, Sh. Anil Vij for this ambitious project and said that due to his guidance and keen interest, the Smarak is being developed into a grand and historic structure. He expressed confidence that the Smarak will emerge as a major centre of national pride and further strengthen the spirit of patriotism.

First of its kind Samarak based on 1857 revolution – Anil Vij

Energy, Transport and Labour Minister,  Sh. Anil Vij, while inspecting the Samarak site, briefed the Chief Minister about various arrangements, technical features, and construction progress. He said that this Samarak based on the 1857 revolution is the first of its kind in the country, showcasing the heroic tales, battles, and sacrifices of the freedom struggle through modern technology.

Sh. Anil Vij said that special emphasis has been given to the contributions of unsung heroes and revolutionaries of 1857 so that citizens can connect with India’s glorious past. He added that the Samarak would soon be inaugurated, and therefore all preparations should be completed in a time-bound and quality manner.

He further said that the Samarak will serve as an important centre of knowledge for students and researchers, and educational institutions should prioritize visits for students to help them understand the legacy of freedom struggle, patriotism, and sacrifice. He also said that the Samarak is being constructed to pay true tribute to the unsung heroes of the freedom movement and to immortalize their contribution.

The Chief Minister and Energy Minister also visited various galleries and the auditorium inside theSamarak. They watched and appreciated a short documentary on the 1857 uprising along with senior officers and attendees. On this occasion, both leaders also planted a Rudraksha sapling in the premises of the Smarak.
