Bharatiya Janata Party Chandigarh President Jitender Pal Malhotra invited Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini as the Chief Guest for the upcoming “Chandigarh Khelo Games 2026”, scheduled to commence from May 25, 2026. He personally visited the Chief Minister’s residence and formally extended the invitation while sharing details of the mega sporting event.

On this occasion, Sports Cell Convener Prabhjeet Lamba, State General Secretary Sanjeev Rana, Shakti Prakash Devshali, Meenakshi Thakur and Sargun Arora were also present.

Jitender Pal Malhotra stated that “Chandigarh Khelo Games 2026” is being specially organized for emerging Under-19 players to provide them with a strong platform to showcase their talent.

He said the event is not merely a sports competition but also an initiative to inspire youth towards sports and nation-building while keeping them away from social evils like drug abuse. He informed that the grand sports festival will feature competitions in football, basketball, kabaddi, rugby, netball, volleyball, judo, karate, table tennis, and track & field events including 100m, 200m, 400m races, long jump, and high jump, covering a total of 11 sports disciplines.

More than 2000 players will participate in these competitions and showcase their sporting talent. The sports festival will be organized from May 25 to June 1, 2026 at Panjab University, while the inauguration ceremony will take place on May 25 at 5:00 PM in the University Gymnasium Hall.

Jitender Pal Malhotra said that the BJP Sports Cell aims to nurture talented players who can bring glory to Chandigarh at national and international levels and eventually represent India in the Olympic Games in the future. He added that “Chandigarh Khelo Games 2026” will prove to be a historic event giving a new direction to the enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship of the youth.
