As part of a series of events announced by the Punjab Government to celebrate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji on a large scale, a special seminar dedicated to the teachings and philosophy of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji was organised on Monday at CT university. Addressing the seminar, Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who attended the event as the Guest of Honour, called upon youth to take the lead in eliminating social and economic disparities from society by following the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, who championed equality, universal brotherhood and social justice.

He added that discrimination and inequality are continue to persist in several sectors, including education and the economy. Highlighting economic disparity, he stated that while India has a population of 140 crore, nearly 40 percent of the country’s wealth is concentrated in the hands of just 1.5 crore people, whereas 50 percent of the population owns only 6 percent of the nation’s property.

He further remarked that the country’s education system is “completely rotten” and stressed the need for comprehensive reforms to build a future-ready nation for Youth. Urging the youth to rise against inequality and discrimination, Sisodia said the younger generation must work towards creating an egalitarian society free from all forms of discrimination envisioned by Sri Guru Ravidass Ji — one free from social divisions and injustice.

He added that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is organising such events throughout the year to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji to propagate the Guru Sahib’s message and philosophy. He also highlighted the Punjab government’s focus on strengthening the education and healthcare sectors to ensure quality services for every Punjabi.

On this occasion, he also launched a miss-call campaign (9090029090) for the youth. Similarly, Advisor, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Punjab, Deepak Bali also addressed the gathering and informed that these events are aimed at connecting the youth with the life, teachings and philosophy of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.

He stated that the Punjab Government is committed to building an inclusive society in line with the Guru Sahib’s ideals. He further added that such seminars and discussions will help answer the questions arising in the minds of young students regarding economic inequality, discrimination and social injustice.

Sant Kewal Singh from Sri Khuralgarh Sahib was also present on the occasion and urged the younger generation to follow the Guru Ji’s teachings. He stressed that everyone should adopt in their practical lives the principles of equality and equal opportunity preached by Sri Guru Ravidass Ji 650 years ago.

CT University Chancellor Charanjit Singh Channi, Pro Chancellor Dr Manbir Singh, Vice-Chairman Harpreet Singh, SDM West Kuldeep Bawa and others were also present on the occasion.
