Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Principal Census Officer, Komal Mittal, today initiated the process of Self Enumeration under the Census of India, by submitting her details on the portal, which has commenced from April 30 as a digital exercise. Appealing to the residents of the district, the Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to actively participate in the self-enumeration process, describing it as simple, user-friendly, and convenient.
Citizens can log on to the official portal se.census.gov.in, register themselves by entering the name of the head of the family and a mobile number, and authenticate via OTP. The process then proceeds with geo-location tagging.
She informed that the portal seeks basic household information, including type of house (kachcha or pucca), number of rooms, family size, ownership status, number of married couples, availability of drinking water and electricity, LPG/PNG connection, and possession of assets such as radio, television, mobile/smartphone, bicycles, two-wheelers, and four-wheelers.
Upon successful submission of the required details, a unique Self Enumeration (SE) ID is generated. This information can later be verified and corrected, during the house-to-house visit by the Enumerator before final confirmation.
The Deputy Commissioner further advised citizens to verify the identity of Enumerators by checking their official Government/Census ID cards. She emphasized that no personal financial information, including bank account details or transactions, will be sought during the process, and cautioned residents to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities.
Highlighting the importance of public participation, she mentioned that local MLA Kulwant Singh and Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla have also completed their self-enumeration.The self-enumeration phase will continue from April 30 to May 14.
Thereafter, Phase I of the house-to-house enumeration will be conducted from May 15 to June 13. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all residents of SAS Nagar district to extend full cooperation in ensuring the success of this important national exercise.
