The Mohali Administration on Friday night successfully conducted a Civil Defence Mock Exercise at the District Administrative Complex (DAC), Sector 76, Mohali, under the supervision of DC Komal Mittal.
The exercise commenced at 8:00 PM with the sounding of a high-low pitch air raid siren, simulating an air strike warning. Immediately thereafter, a complete blackout was enforced within the District Administrative Complex to demonstrate protective measures aimed at safeguarding lives during emergency situations.
Following the blackout phase, electricity was restored to assess the simulated damage scenario. The Deputy Commissioner, who personally monitored the entire exercise at the DAC, informed that the drill also included a mock situation of a fire outbreak within the complex, along with persons being trapped inside the premises.
Responding swiftly, rescue teams carried out search and rescue operations to evacuate the stranded individuals.Emergency response measures such as evacuation, firefighting, medical assistance, and casualty evacuation were effectively demonstrated during the drill.
Interacting with media persons after the conclusion of the exercise, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal stated that the mock drill was conducted successfully and served its purpose of testing preparedness and response mechanisms in emergency situations.She further informed that NSS volunteers, Police personnel, and Civil Defence volunteers actively participated in the drill and exhibited promptness and coordination while handling simulated emergency scenarios.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also interacted with the NSS volunteers and other participants, appreciating their efforts and thanking them for their active involvement in the exercise.She reiterated that such drills are essential to strengthen disaster preparedness and ensure coordinated response during real emergencies.
