Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, while reviewing the status of grievances raised during recent meetings with traders and shopkeepers in the district, directed officials to take all issues seriously and ensure that the disposal status is updated on the designated portal in a timely manner.
Reviewing constituency-wise complaints, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the resolutions submitted by various departments have been carefully examined by the District Traders’ Commission, and certain cases have been returned for reconsideration and reopening.
She emphasized that grievances should be marked as resolved on the portal only after obtaining written consent from the complainant. She further clarified that only those grievances should be closed where the complainant is fully satisfied. Issues that have been partially addressed and require additional time for complete resolution should be marked as “in progress” to avoid any ambiguity.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that each department has been assigned separate login IDs. Therefore, if a grievance pertaining to another department is received, it should be promptly forwarded to the concerned department for appropriate action.
Emphasizing timely redressal, she stated that swift resolution of complaints would significantly contribute to improving the ease of doing business in the district. She noted that many grievances do not require additional financial resources or extensive efforts and can be resolved at the local level. Such issues should be prioritized.
These include regular cleanliness, maintenance of street lighting, and enhanced PCR patrolling, which require immediate attention. The meeting was attended by Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Mohali, Sundeep Singh Garha; Joint Commissioner Jasjit Singh; Assistant Commissioner (G) Dr. Ankita Kansal; along with other concerned officials.
Also present were Chairman Ranjit Pal Singh and Vice Chairman Tarlochan Singh Baidwan of the District Traders’ Commission, and constituency-level chairmen Akwinder Singh Gosal (Mohali) and Yashwant Bansal (Kharar).
