Fearing an imminent defeat in the Nayagaon Municipal Council elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has now resorted to strangling democracy. From late night on April 14 until around 1:35 AM on April 15, AAP leaders allegedly manipulated votes in the voter lists behind closed doors at the SDM Kharar office.
This was stated by BJP State Media Head Vineet Joshi, who was addressing the media along with Nayagaon Mandal President Bhupinder Singh Bhuppi, former councillor Surinder Kaushish Babbal, councillor’s husband Bablu Kori, and Mandal General Secretary Suresh Yadav.
Tampering with Verified Voter Lists — A Direct Attack on Democracy
According to BJP leaders, AAP leaders are openly tampering with voter lists verified by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Names of opposition voters are being deleted, while names of their supporters are being added illegally. BJP termed this as a “murder of democracy,” stating that this is not an election but a conspiracy to cling to power.
Office Closed During Day, Secret Operations at Night
BJP leaders Surinder Kaushish Babbal and Karan reached the SDM office at 4 PM but were told at 5 PM that the office had closed. However, the presence of AAP leaders inside the same office behind closed doors at midnight raises serious questions about the role of the administration. When BJP leaders revisited the spot at around 12 AM, vehicles of AAP leaders were found parked there, and Nayagaon Block President Sunil was clearly visible inside through the window.
Were Government Officials Also Involved? A Serious Question
At around 1:35 AM, when AAP leaders exited the office, they were accompanied by government officials including Municipal Council AME Harbhajan Singh, Sanitary Inspector Santosh Verma, Building Inspector Mahesh, and Clerk Saurabh Anand.

BJP has issued a clear warning that if an impartial investigation into this alleged vote manipulation is not conducted and strict action is not taken against the guilty, the party will launch a massive public agitation on the streets.
