Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Sh. Harvinder Kalyan said that the recently launched HPV vaccine will help protect women from cervical cancer and should be administered on time.Sh. Kalyan was speaking as the Chief Guest at a walkathon organised by the local unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Karnal on Sunday.

The walkathon, aimed at spreading awareness about cervical cancer among women, was organised from Karnal Club to the Civil Hospital. Members of the IMA, along with representatives of various social organisations, participated in the event.

He said that the vaccine to prevent cervical cancer among women was recently launched by the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi. The objective behind organising the walkathon is to generate awareness about cervical cancer. He added that such programmes yield positive outcomes and play an important role in sensitising society.

Emphasising the need for awareness, he said that along with strengthening development and systems in society, public awareness is essential. When citizens move forward with awareness, their participation in social activities increases, which ultimately benefits society and the nation.
