A meeting to review the functioning of Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs (AAMs) and Urban Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs (UAAMs) was held under the chairmanship of Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Secretary Health, UT Chandigarh Administration, today at the U.T. Secretariat.

The meeting was attended by the Joint Secretary Health, Director Health & Family Welfare-cum-Mission Director (NHM), Nodal Officer (NHM) and all Medical Officer In-charges of AAMs and UAAMs.It was highlighted that AAMs and UAAMs serve as primary healthcare centres and act as the first point of contact for beneficiaries. 

Therefore, strengthening these facilities is crucial to reducing the burden on secondary and tertiary healthcare institutions.During the meeting, the Chairperson reviewed the functioning of various health facilities and sought inputs from Medical Officer In-charges regarding gaps identified, workload, and innovations being implemented at their respective centres. 

The officers briefed about their facility areas, patient load, challenges, and best practices being adopted to improve service delivery.The Health Secretary emphasized the need to make all health facilities paperless and to further strengthen the Hospital Management Information System (NextGen e-Hospital developed by NIC) to enhance efficiency and user-friendliness.

Further, all Medical Officer In-charges were instructed to maintain courteous and compassionate behaviour while dealing with patients, especially elderly/geriatric patients. They were also directed to ensure the availability of essential medicines and diagnostic services as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.
