Approves ₹988 Crore Budget for Faridabad’s Infrastructure Transformation

The 7th meeting of the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) was held at Surajkund under the chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini. Giving a major push to infrastructure development in Faridabad through FMDA, the authority approved an annual budget of ₹988 crore for the financial year 2026–27. 

Various development projects were approved under this budget. These initiatives aim to strengthen the city’s basic civic infrastructure, promote environmental sustainability, and meet rapidly growing urban needs. Key focus areas in the meeting included sewerage management, water supply, storm water drainage, road infrastructure, and urban greening. 

These projects will improve service delivery and significantly enhance the quality of life for citizens.The Chief Minister stated that under Gati Shakti, the Principal Advisor of the Urban Development Authority will conduct coordination meetings of the concerned departments every 15 days and review the progress of development works.

Advanced Wastewater Treatment and Reuse with ₹85 Crore

Taking a significant step toward sustainable water management, the Chief Minister approved the upgradation of sewage treatment plants (STPs) with the latest technology—90 MLD capacity at Pratapgarh, 70 MLD at Mirzapur, and 45 MLD at Badshahpur.This 205 MLD capacity project will cost approximately ₹85 crore. 

It will include advanced technologies such as primary treatment, ozonation, UV disinfection, filtration, and sludge management, along with 10 years of operation and maintenance. The treated water will be used for irrigation, reducing dependence on freshwater.The Chief Minister said, “Water conservation and reuse are essential for the future of our cities.”

New STP at Surajkund to Strengthen Sewerage System

To enhance sewage treatment capacity, a new 20 MLD STP will be constructed in the Surajkund area at a cost of ₹42.20 crore, including 10 years of maintenance.

Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant at ₹18 Crore

Under the master sewerage plan of Faridabad, fecal sludge treatment facilities with a capacity covering 50 km will be designed and constructed at three STPs located in Mirzapur, Badshahpur, and Pratapgarh, at a cost of ₹18 crore.

Safe Drinking Water Project Worth ₹21.24 Crore

Under the master water supply plan of Faridabad, about 30 MLD of water will be treated. This ₹21.24 crore project will ensure clean drinking water for residents.The Chief Minister said, “Providing clean drinking water to every citizen is our top priority.”

Comprehensive Drainage Plan for 210 sq km Area

Under the Master Storm Water Drainage Plan, a project worth ₹98.69 crore has been approved to address waterlogging and urban flooding. It will cover 210 sq km of area.The plan includes cleaning of drains, new pipelines, pumping systems, and development of new disposal points. New disposal points will be created in areas like Mujesar, Sector 21A, Ballabhgarh (on NHAI), and the grain market.

Model Roads Development in NIT Area at ₹67 Crore

To upgrade road infrastructure, 7.33 km of roads in the NIT area will be developed as model roads at a cost of approximately ₹67 crore. These will include footpaths, cycle tracks, smart lighting, traffic signals, green belts, and multi-utility zones to improve traffic management and road safety.

Additionally, an 18 km long green belt will be developed from the Delhi border (Sector 37) to Sector 59 along the Delhi-Vadodara Expressway and Agra Canal, at a cost of about ₹26 crore, which will help improve air quality and the environment.The Chief Minister also approved filling of Group C and Group D posts in FMDA through Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam Limited.

Emphasis on Timely Implementation of Projects

While reviewing ongoing projects, the Chief Minister directed that all works be completed within the stipulated time frame with high quality. He said, “These projects will give new momentum to Faridabad’s development and provide world-class facilities to citizens.”

The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State Sh. Krishan Pal Gurjar, Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Sh. Vipul Goel, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs Sh. Rajesh Nagar, MLAs Sh. Mool Chand Sharma (Ballabhgarh), Sh. Satish Fagna (NIT), Sh. Dhanesh Adlakha (Badkhal), Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor Sh. D.S. Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sh. Arun Gupta, FMDA Chief Executive Officer Sh. P.C. Meena, along with other senior officials and members of the authority.
