Reacting strongly to the grenade attack on the BJP’s state-level office in Chandigarh, BJP leader Akshay Sharma from Amritsar North condemned the incident. He said that earlier there were repeated grenade attacks on police stations in Punjab, then the statue of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar was vandalized in Hoshiarpur, and now the BJP office in Chandigarh has been targeted.
These incidents point towards a larger conspiracy aimed at disturbing communal harmony and peace in the state, while also creating an atmosphere of fear among people. Akshay Sharma said that similar patterns of attacks in Punjab’s police stations and Chandigarh indicate that these incidents are interconnected.
He added that this clearly reflects lapses in maintaining law and order in Punjab, and now its impact has reached Chandigarh as well, which is extremely concerning. Responding to the statement of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Akshay Sharma said that making such remarks at a sensitive time when there is fear all around and a sense of threat among Punjabis is unfortunate.
He stated that when the state is grappling with such incidents, the government should focus on concrete action instead of political statements. Akshay Sharma demanded a high-level investigation into the attack and strict action against the ongoing incidents in Punjab.
He emphasized that the culprits must be dealt with firmly to restore peace and security in the state. He further said that Punjab’s security should be treated as a priority, and the state government should seek assistance from the central government to ensure robust security arrangements.
