Senior Congress leader and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government, stating that the government, which came to power with the slogan of change, has failed to fulfill its promises to the people. He said that AAP had promised to build 16 new medical colleges in Punjab, but not even a single new medical college is visible on the ground so far.

Sidhu said that in response to a question raised in the Assembly on this issue, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora tried to mislead the public by claiming that no medical colleges were built during the Congress government from 2017 to 2022. He said this claim is completely false and contrary to facts.

He pointed out that during the Congress government, the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences in Mohali was established in 2021, which has around 100 MBBS seats and currently nearly 500 students are studying there. This year, around 100 students will complete their studies and graduate as doctors.

Balbir Singh Sidhu said that AAP ministers should not make such incorrect statements without verifying facts. He said the government should accept the truth instead of misleading people and should work seriously towards fulfilling its promises in the healthcare sector.

He further questioned whether Cabinet Minister Aman Arora is even aware of the medical college and hospital built in Mohali. Sidhu remarked that if the government is unaware of institutions built within its own state, it is extremely unfortunate.

In conclusion, he said that the AAP government has been reduced to mere claims and advertisements, while the real work on the ground was done during the Congress government, the benefits of which are still being received by the people of Punjab today.
