As the Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit 2026 entered its second day, showcasing business opportunities in the state, a session on Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) held at Plaksha University highlighted the advantages of investing in the state.
While introducing the newly launched industrial policy of Punjab, Seema Bansal, Chairman of the Punjab Development Commission, said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has identified nine priority sectors, with ESDM being one of them.
She said that apart from policy incentives, Punjab provides a conducive business environment along with premier technical institutes, a skilled workforce, and robust infrastructure.Ms. Bansal further stated that Punjab is committed to building a strong ESDM ecosystem by facilitating world-class industrial infrastructure, strengthening industry-academia partnerships, and encouraging research, design and innovation-led growth.
Avinash Singh from Toppan Speciality Films Pvt. Ltd. shared his experience of doing business in Punjab. He said that Punjab Government has been very proactive in supporting industry and that his company received incentives that exceeded expectations while setting up operations in the state.
Meanwhile, Kamaljeet Singh from HCL Technologies said there is a huge demand for electronic chips across industrial sectors, indicating strong growth potential in the ESDM industry. He added that Punjab offers an ideal investment destination due to its skilled workforce, basic infrastructure facilities and business-friendly policies.
Another speaker, Prithvideep Singh from CDIL Semiconductors, said that in the current competitive era, Mohali is competing strongly with India’s major technology hubs such as Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. He noted that attractive policies, quality power supply and the availability of talent are key factors attracting investment to Punjab.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra Singh Yadav from the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association also underlined Punjab’s advantages as an investment destination.The session was moderated by Ankush Wadhera from Boston Consulting Group.
