Reacting sharply to the budget presented today by the Punjab government, BJP leader from Amritsar North Akshay Sharma said that the budget is disappointing for the people of Punjab and does not present any concrete plan for development. He said it is merely an election slogan and the government is trying to target the upcoming elections through it.

Akshay Sharma said that while the government has made big claims in the budget, people will not get any real relief on the ground. He added that Punjab is already burdened with heavy debt, yet the budget does not show any clear strategy to reduce the debt or to economically strengthen the common people.

Taking a dig at the government, he said the budget is “just a bundle of announcements,” which will neither provide employment opportunities to the youth nor give any new direction to industries. Akshay Sharma said that farmers, traders and the youth of Punjab had high expectations from this budget, but the government has failed to meet those expectations.

He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party government is misleading people by presenting only paper-based schemes. He further said that Punjab needs a strong economic policy and honest administration for real development, not empty promises.

He added that the Punjab government has prepared this budget only to please its supporters and to gain political advantage in the upcoming elections. The announcement of giving ₹1,000 per month to women is also just a political slogan, as the time will pass in completing paperwork and eventually the government will leave after putting the burden on Punjab.

Akshay Sharma said that the Aam Aadmi Party may use government machinery or try to lure people in any way, but now people want to save Punjab and reject this party.
