The President of the Door-to-Door Garbage Collector Union, Dharmveer Rana, along with all garbage collectors of Chandigarh, expressed heartfelt gratitude after the long-pending Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which had remained unresolved for the past four years, was officially signed by the Municipal Corporation.

On this significant occasion, they presented bouquets to BJP State President Jitender Pal Malhotra and Sanitation Committee Chairman Manoj Sonkar as a token of appreciation. A large number of garbage collectors were present during the event.

They described the moment as highly emotional and historic, stating that for the past four years they had been facing uncertainty regarding their economic security and service conditions due to the delay in the MOU. The prolonged pendency had caused administrative as well as financial challenges for hundreds of families dependent on this work.

Union President Dharmveer Rana stated that garbage collectors form the backbone of the city’s sanitation system and work tirelessly every day to maintain cleanliness across Chandigarh. He emphasized that the delay in the MOU had affected their morale and financial stability.

He acknowledged that BJP State President Jitendra Pal Malhotra took their concerns seriously, understood their economic hardships, and played a crucial role in facilitating discussions with the concerned authorities, ultimately leading to the signing of the MOU.

The garbage collectors conveyed their sincere blessings and appreciation, stating that this step has restored their faith and provided much-needed stability. They highlighted that the signing of the MOU is not merely an administrative formality but a matter directly connected to the livelihood and future security of numerous families.

With the agreement now in place, clarity regarding work structure, remuneration, and responsibilities will enable them to serve the city with even greater dedication. The Union also appreciated the efforts of Sanitation Committee Chairman Manoj Sonkar for consistently supporting sanitation workers and ensuring that their long-pending concerns were addressed.

The event concluded with a collective pledge by all garbage collectors to continue serving the city with honesty, commitment, and dedication. The occasion marked not only the resolution of a prolonged issue but also demonstrated the positive impact of responsive leadership and unity among workers.
