OSD to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, Sukhveer Singh today inaugurated the work for laying interlock tiles along both sides of the Ladda–Balian road in village Kanjhla under the Dhuri constituency. The project, being undertaken at a cost of ₹89 lakh, will cover an approximately 18-kilometre stretch passing through villages Kila Hakima, Kanjhla and Balian.
The work involves the installation of 5-foot-wide interlock tiles on both sides of the existing 18-foot-wide road. The initiative is aimed at reinforcing the road shoulders, preventing erosion—particularly during the monsoon season—and enhancing the structural stability of the roadway. The paved shoulders will also ensure safer and smoother movement for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders.
Sharing financial details, Sukhveer Singh informed that development works amounting to ₹40.24 lakh are being executed in village Kila Hakima, ₹36.31 lakh in village Kanjhla and ₹12.51 lakh in village Balian under this project. He directed the concerned officials to complete the work within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining the highest standards of quality and ensuring regular on-site monitoring.
Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to rural transformation, Sukhveer Singh stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, planned and comprehensive development works are being undertaken to strengthen basic infrastructure across the Dhuri constituency. He emphasized that projects related to roads, water supply, sewerage and other public amenities are being implemented on priority to provide improved civic facilities to rural residents.
He added that the overarching objective of the State Government is to ensure holistic and sustainable development of villages so that each village emerges as a model of progress and enhanced public infrastructure. Zila Parishad Member Harjinder Singh Kanjhla, Block Samiti Member Ranjodh Singh Yodha, officials of various departments, panchayat representatives and local residents were present on the occasion.
