Haryana Cooperation, Tourism and Heritage Minister Dr. Arvind Kumar Sharma, while addressing the gathering at the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Fair, said that the fair is not merely a celebration of art and culture but also a powerful platform that provides international recognition and opportunities to the country’s craftsmen, artists, and handicraftspeople.

He said that the Surajkund International Crafts Fair has been organised continuously since 1987, and today, under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a Developed India 2047 and the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the fair’s grandeur, beauty, and global recognition are increasing with each passing year.

Dr. Sharma stated that the International Crafts Fair serves as a significant exposure platform for craftsmen, artists, and handicraftspeople. He said that while 44 countries participated in the fair last year, the participation of more than 50 countries this year reflects its growing international appeal. 

He expressed confidence that the Surajkund Crafts Mela will play a meaningful role in building a developed India by strengthening indigenous art, culture, and the spirit of a self-reliant nation. The Minister urged people to interact with artisans and encourage their work, stating that such engagement boosts the morale of artists and craftsmen and helps strengthen their livelihoods. 

He added that the presence of renowned artists like Kailash Kher further enhances the prestige and charm of the fair.
