A grand event titled ‘Run for Swadeshi’ was successfully organized today under the leadership of BJP leader from Amritsar North, Akshay Sharma, with the objective of spreading the message of Swadeshi and a Self-Reliant India among the masses. Senior BJP leader Tarunjit Sandhu also joined the event and expressed his support for this meaningful initiative.
The run began from D-Mart, Lawrence Road, and concluded at Company Bagh. A large number of youth, students, artisans, women, traders, and representatives of social organizations participated enthusiastically.
The entire route reverberated with patriotic spirit and slogans promoting Swadeshi. Addressing the participants, Akshay Sharma said that the true strength of India lies in the skill and creativity of its people.
“Small artisans, craftsmen, weavers, and micro-entrepreneurs are the real foundation of an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Unless we proudly adopt products made in India, the dream of economic independence will remain incomplete,” he stated. He described Swadeshi as not just an idea but the core principle of national progress.
He further said that excessive dependence on foreign goods weakens local industries, while adopting Swadeshi creates employment opportunities and strengthens confidence among the youth. He appealed to people to make “Made in India” products their first choice and to promote the Swadeshi movement through social and digital platforms.
During the run, slogans such as “Adopt Swadeshi – Save the Nation,” “Atmanirbhar Bharat – Strong Bharat,” and “Local for Vocal” filled the atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm. Citizens at various points welcomed the participants with flower showers.
Several artisans displayed handmade products, and an exhibition was organized to showcase the quality and diversity of indigenous goods. Akshay Sharma emphasized that the purpose of this event was not limited to a single day’s activity but to transform Swadeshi into a people’s movement.
He assured that similar awareness programs would soon be held in schools, colleges, markets, and villages so that the message of Swadeshi reaches every household. Participating artisans and small entrepreneurs shared that such initiatives provide them recognition and motivation.
Local traders also pledged to give greater space to Swadeshi products in their businesses. Concluding the event, Akshay Sharma thanked all participants and said that this movement, which has begun from Amritsar, will create a new wave of awareness across Punjab and the country.
He urged every citizen to buy at least one Swadeshi product every week and inspire others to do the same. The program was conducted in a disciplined and patriotic atmosphere.
Among those present were former councillor Pappu Mahajan, Vikrant Shori, Sahajpreet, and other prominent citizens.
