Reiterating the Aam Aadmi Party government’s resolve to make Punjab crime-free, MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu said that about 325 days ago, a decisive ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign was launched, under which the police carried out historic action by registering FIRs against 32,000 drug smugglers and putting thousands of criminals behind bars.

Addressing a press conference, Sidhu said that the government not only arrested drug traffickers but also brought youth willing to quit drugs back into the mainstream by providing government assistance. For this purpose, special 100-bed de-addiction centres were established in various cities to save Punjab’s youth.

On the same lines, the AAP government has now launched the ‘Gangsters te Vaar’ campaign to uproot gangster culture completely.Launching a sharp attack on previous governments, MLA Sidhu said that earlier governments not only promoted gangsterism in Punjab but also provided political patronage to gangsters.

However, the AAP government has tightened the noose around gangsters. Today, the situation is such that encounters of gangsters are being carried out daily by the Punjab Police. He reiterated that the AAP government is fully committed to maintaining peace and harmony in Punjab.

Issuing a direct warning to gangsters, MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu said that those who attempt to disturb Punjab’s peace now have only two options left, either leave Punjab or be ready to go to jail and face police bullets. He said that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s rule, no anti-social element that disrupts Punjab’s peace and harmony will be spared.
