The silence of Aam Aadmi Party leaders on two incidents—one involving the former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi for the language allegedly used against the Guru Sahibans, and the other an unverified viral video showing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann allegedly sprinkling liquor in front of a picture of the Guru Sahibans—proves that AAP leaders are standing in direct opposition to the core Sikh principle, “Gur ki ninda sune na kaan” (one should not listen to any insult of the Guru).
These allegations were made today in Chandigarh by Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Member of the National Parliamentary Board Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has lost his moral authority and should resign immediately.
On the occasion, senior Punjab BJP leader Jagdeep Singh Cheema, State Media Head Vineet Joshi, and State Spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal were also present. Lalpura stated that the use of derogatory words against the Sikh Guru Sahibans inside the Delhi Legislative Assembly has been confirmed by the Speaker of the Assembly himself, which amounts to a direct attack on the sentiments of Sikhism and the entire Sikh community.
He said that by maintaining silence on this serious issue, the Aam Aadmi Party has clearly exposed its intentions. He questioned why AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and the party’s Sikh leadership are silent on this issue and why no action has been taken against the accused.
Lalpura said that the viral video of Bhagwant Mann has further aggravated the matter. He said that there is no such tradition in Sikhism, and if the incident is true, it constitutes a clear legal offence. He clarified that the Punjab Government or the Punjab Police cannot investigate this matter, as impartiality is not possible when allegations are against the Chief Minister himself.
Therefore, an immediate investigation by the CBI or the judiciary is necessary. Iqbal Singh Lalpura said that Kejriwal and Sisodia are equally responsible for the entire episode. If Bhagwant Mann does not resign, the Aam Aadmi Party should immediately remove him from office.
He added that Punjab’s law and order has already collapsed, and now even the protection of religious sentiments is under threat. A government that cannot safeguard the dignity of the Guru Sahibans has no moral right to remain in power.
Iqbal Singh Lalpura categorically stated that the BJP stands firmly with the Sikh community and will not remain silent until those who insult the Guru Sahibans are punished.
