Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang, along with MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh, today dedicated newly developed public facilities including open gyms, solar lights and public benches in several villages of the Mohali constituency. The facilities were inaugurated during their visit to the villages in the presence of local residents and village representatives.
Sharing details, MP Malvinder Singh Kang said that under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) Fund, an amount of Rs. 3 lakh each was released for the installation of open gyms in the villages Manak Majra, Manakpur Kallar and Giga Majra. These gyms aim to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among villagers, particularly the youth.
He further informed that public benches worth Rs. 1 lakh were installed in village Giga Majra to facilitate seating in common public areas, while solar lights costing Rs. 1 lakh were installed in village Manak Majra, significantly improving illumination and safety while promoting eco-friendly infrastructure.
Addressing the gathering, MP Malvinder Singh Kang, who is an Inter-University Gold Medallist in Basketball, said that encouraging a strong sporting culture among the youth is his prime agenda. He stated that several sports infrastructure projects have already been undertaken under the MPLAD Fund, including two to three volleyball grounds in the Balachaur area, two basketball geounds in the Chamkaur Sahib area and another basketball ground in Khizrabad. He reiterated his commitment to balanced rural development and effective utilisation of MP funds to strengthen basic amenities.
MLA Kulwant Singh, while appreciating the initiatives, said that such people-centric development works greatly enhance the quality of life in villages. He added that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken a major initiative to promote sports by constructing 3,200 stadiums across the state, out of which 34 sports grounds will be developed in the Mohali constituency.
The MLA further informed that the Rs. 10 lakh Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana will soon be rolled out, ensuring comprehensive healthcare coverage for every family in Punjab.Villagers expressed gratitude to MP Malvinder Singh Kang and MLA Kulwant Singh for fulfilling long-pending demands and dedicating development works for public welfare.
