Chitkara International School presented its Annual Function, “Sanchaar: The Communication Vibe”, through a thoughtfully curated celebration across its Chandigarh and Panchkula campuses, offering a rich exploration of the evolution of communication across time.
The occasion was graced by Dr Ashok K. Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, and Chairperson, Chitkara International Schools.
A significant highlight was the University Connect segment, showcasing the PhD to Playway Connect through a video address by Dr Ashutosh Mishra, Dean, School of Mass Communication and Journalism, Chitkara University. He underscored integrated learning pathways and ethical communication.
The segment was further complemented by messages from Mr Amitabha Singh, acclaimed cinematographer and producer, and RJ Omika, alumnus of Chitkara International School and Chitkara University.The programme commenced with a powerful interpretative sequence inspired by the Ramayana, depicting the devotion and courage of Lord Hanuman.
Enhanced by immersive visuals and refined choreography, the performance drew particular appreciation for the complex lifts executed predominantly by girl performers, highlighting confidence and technical finesse.Ensuring complete inclusion, every student of the school participated on stage.
Anchored in a witty and engaging central narrative, the presentation journeyed from the Mughal era, through contemporary Gen Z sensibilities, and into a futuristic world of robots, using humour and insight to comment on shifting modes of communication. This narrative arc subtly reinforced the moral that while mediums evolve, clarity, empathy, and human judgement must remain central.
The celebration featured expressive dances, musical performances, theatrical vignettes, and technology-enabled presentations using digital tools and PPTs, effectively illustrating the journey of communication from ancient scripts and print media to modern digital platforms.
An array of activities showcased diverse tools of communication, including cave paintings, papyrus scrolls, handwritten letters, newspapers, telegraphs, radio, television, mobile phones, emails, websites, blogs, and social media platforms. A special performance on AI & Human Interaction further enriched the programme, reinforcing the message that artificial intelligence should serve as a support to human creativity and judgement, rather than a replacement.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Dr Niyati Chitkara, Vice President, Chitkara International Schools, who, while interacting with the media, shared, “Aligned with the National Curriculum and the Sustainable Development Goals, our vision for communication education is to shape compassionate and responsible thinkers who engage with technology purposefully, communicate with clarity, and act with a strong sense of global responsibility.”
