Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Leader and spokesperson Neel Garg expressed deep concern over the sensational allegations made by Navjot Kaur Sidhu, accusing Congress of a purported “dealing” of ₹500 crore for the post of Chief Minister and ₹5 crore each for MLA tickets. Neel Garg said that these allegations are not only shocking but also raise serious questions about the politics and democracy of Punjab.
He said the most surprising thing is why former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, against whom these allegations have been made, is silent till now. Garg said that Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar has also publicly claimed that Channi paid ₹350 crore to become the Chief Minister.
If this is true, is it not a betrayal of the people of Punjab? And if the allegations are false, why is Channi Sahib not coming forward to deny them? Garg also mentioned the serious allegations levelled by Navjot Kaur Sidhu against the Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa.
He said that the silence of a senior leader like Bajwa, who holds the position of Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, raises several questions in the minds of the people. Even after such grave allegations, what does Bajwa Sahib’s silence indicate?
Garg said that Punjab does not want deceit or any kind of “deal”. The people of Punjab want transparency. He demanded that Charanjit Singh Channi give clarification on these serious allegations and asked Pratap Singh Bajwa to respond to the accusations related to the alleged “deal”.
