Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain on Monday appealed to the residents of Ludhiana to contribute generously towards the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, observed annually to honour the valour and sacrifice of India’s armed forces personnel. The DC emphasized that the funds raised from the collections on Armed Forces Flag Day utilized exclusively for the welfare of serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, and the families of martyrs.
He stated that the Armed Forces Flag Day is a solemn occasion to express deepest gratitude to brave soldiers and to pay homage to those who laid down their lives for the nation. He added that it is the collective moral responsibility of every citizen to support the families and dependents of our armed forces personnel.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that every soldier joins the forces with an unwavering commitment to selfless service and the highest sacrifice for the country. He also informed citizens that donations made to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund are eligible for 100% income tax exemption under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
The DC urged residents, institutions, and business establishments to come forward wholeheartedly and make this year’s collection drive a grand success. The employees of the Department of Defence Services Welfare marked the occasion by pinning Armed Forces Flag Day badges on Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, and other senior officials of the district administration.
