Director General of Police, Punjab Gaurav Yadav, has conferred the prestigious DGP Disc upon 49 police officers and personnel serving in Sangrur district in recognition of their commendable services. Patiala Range DIG, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, presented these honours during a simple yet impressive ceremony organised at the Sangrur Police Lines. 

Along with the 49 DGP Disc awards, 2 Appreciation certificates, 233 CC-1 certificates, and cash prizes amounting to ₹3,49,500 were also distributed among the officers and employees. Addressing the ceremony, DIG Patiala Range Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that Punjab Police is regarded among the finest police forces in the country due to its consistent professionalism and commitment. 

He noted that the force has effectively handled every crisis in the past and is now fully engaged in the crucial fight against drugs one of the most significant challenges facing the state today. He called upon every police officer and employee to contribute their full potential to ensure that the War Against Drugs reaches its ultimate goal of eliminating the menace from Punjab.

Commending the award recipients, DIG Chahal said that such recognition not only honours the excellent work of the officers but also inspires the entire force to maintain high standards of service and performance. He also appreciated SSP Sangrur, Sartaj Singh Chahal, for ensuring that the district police operates with dedication and efficiency, delivering effective services to the public.

Providing details of the district police’s performance, SSP Sartaj Singh Chahal said that since November 22, 2023, Sangrur Police has successfully frozen properties worth ₹3.93 crore belonging to 23 smugglers under the NDPS Act. He added that the district police has made significant breakthroughs in arresting major drug traffickers and dismantling supply networks under the ongoing War Against Drugs. 

He further said that officers demonstrating exemplary work have always been honoured, and this practice will continue in the future as well. The event was conducted by DSP Sukhdev Singh. Among those present were SSP Navreet Singh Virk, SP Rajesh Chhibber, along with all DSPs and SHOs of the district.
