The Office of the Principal Accountant General (Audit), Punjab, is set to organize a landmark event on the "Role of Audit in Strengthening Local Governance" as part of the Audit Diwas 2025 celebrations at MGSIPA, Sector-26, Chandigarh. This initiative marks the institution's ongoing commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance within local bodies across the state.
Hon'ble Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha Shri Kultar Singh Sandhwan will grace the event as the Chief guest while Shri PPL Budhram, Chairman, Committee on PRIs; and Shri Kulwant Singh, Chairman, Committee on LBs, have been invited as Guest of Honours. The event will also witness the presence of senior officials from the Departments of Local Government and Panchayats and Rural Development, elected representatives from Urban and Rural Local Bodies, and officers of the Indian Audit and Accounts Department.
The event aims to bring together governance experts, auditing professionals, and representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies. It will highlight how rigorous auditing serves as a cornerstone for financial discipline, performance evaluation, and improved service delivery at the grassroots level.
