On the occasion of World Milk Day, MilkFed Punjab, renowned for its flagship brand Verka, under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann achieved a major milestone in strengthening its milk procurement and supply infrastructure by flagging off 20 state of the art chilled road milk tankers.
Flagging off the tankers, the Chairman of Milkfed Narinder Singh Shergill said that these 20 state of the art chilled road milk tankers, have a capacity of 10,000 litres each and have been flagged off from the Verka Milk Plant Mohali. This initiative is part of MilkFed’s larger project to induct 60 such modern milk tankers, being procured at a total cost of Rs 20 crore.
The new fleet will ensure a safer, more reliable, and fully temperature controlled transportation system for milk collected from village level milk societies across Punjab. The Chairman said that these tankers will play a crucial role in delivering fresh, high-quality milk to MilkFed’s processing plants, where it is pasteurised and converted into an extensive range of dairy products including milk, curd, lassi, paneer, butter, ghee, and flavoured milk.
He said that it will pivotal to uplift the dairy sector and support rural livelihoods. He highlighted that this modernisation drive will significantly enhance milk quality, reduce spoilage, and further strengthen Verka’s commitment to providing safe and nutritious dairy products to consumers.
MilkFed Punjab remains dedicated to empowering dairy farmers, modernising infrastructure, and ensuring the delivery of fresh and hygienic milk to households across the state. Finnacial Commissioner (Cooperation) Simer Singh Gurjar and MD Milkfed Rahul Gupta were also present.
