Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan, led a comprehensive and meaningful observance of Samvidhan Diwas at the DC Complex today, marking a solemn commemoration of the adoption of the Constitution of India and reinforcing the district’s commitment to constitutional values and democratic principles.

The celebration brought together senior district administration officials, including ADDC, Champa Devi and ADC, Jagdish Singh along with school students and staff members, creating a multi-generational platform for constitutional awareness and civic engagement.

The event commenced with lighting of the lamp followed by a collective reading of the Preamble to the Constitution, a powerful moment that united all participants in acknowledging the foundational promises of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

A highlight of the celebration was the screening of a documentary on the making of the Indian Constitution, which offered participants a historical perspective on the remarkable journey of drafting the world’s longest written constitution. 

The documentary showcased the vision, dedication, and meticulous efforts of the Constituent Assembly members, particularly the contributions of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee, bringing to life the debates, deliberations and decisions that shaped the nation’s supreme law.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Ayushi Sudan emphasized the critical importance of upholding the spirit of the Constitution in everyday governance and public service delivery. She urged officials to work with unwavering transparency, dedication, and inclusivity to ensure efficient, responsive, and equitable service to all citizens of Samba district, regardless of their background or circumstances. 

The Deputy Commissioner stressed that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but a living charter that must guide every administrative decision and action, ensuring that governance remains people-centric and rights-based.

The Deputy Commissioner also addressed the school students present at the gathering, encouraging them to understand and appreciate the profound value and depth of the Constitution. She emphasized that young citizens represent the future custodians of constitutional values and urged them to internalize the principles of equality, justice and democratic participation from an early age. 

She highlighted that constitutional literacy is essential for active and informed participation in democracy, and encouraged the students to become ambassadors of constitutional values in their schools, families and communities.

The event was further enriched by vibrant musical performances presented by school students, who showcased their talents while celebrating the spirit of unity in diversity that the Constitution upholds. Their performances added cultural vibrancy to the formal proceedings and demonstrated the creative ways in which constitutional values can be expressed and celebrated. 

The programme concluded with a powerful collective message to promote constitutional awareness at all levels of administration and society, and to strengthen democratic values through education, dialogue, and inclusive governance practices.

The Constitution Day celebration in Samba district served as a meaningful reminder that the Constitution remains not merely a historical document or legal framework, but a living testament to India’s enduring commitment to justice, equality, liberty and fraternity. 

The event successfully brought together administrators, students and officials in a shared commitment to uphold constitutional principles and ensure that governance reflects the aspirations enshrined in the Preamble, making the celebration both educationally enriching and inspirationally empowering for all participants.
