Punjab Police has prepared a special traffic management plan to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary ceremonies of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, said Special Director General of Police (Special DGP) Traffic AS Rai here on Friday.

The Special DGP stated that following the directives of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, robust planning has been done, focusing on every aspect of convenience and security to ensure that the Sangat does not face any difficulty during the events.

He informed that vast parking areas, spread over 120 acres, have been created for the events, with a capacity to accommodate approximately 25,000 vehicles. The traffic management has  been divided into different sectors for efficient handling, he said, while adding that additional link roads, clear signboards, and route diversions have been arranged to connect these parking areas with the main roads.

The Special DGP emphasized that facilitating the large number of Sangat arriving at the Sri Anandpur Sahib is the most important responsibility of the Punjab Police. Adhering to this sentiment, all police personnel will work on the principle of service and will be deployed to assist the devotees.

A Traffic Control Room will remain operational 24x7 during the events, and the In-charge of each sector will report regularly to enable immediate action in case of any emergency, he added. He further added that additional police personnel have been deployed on all major routes, who will monitor vehicular movement and also assist the devotees.

Furthermore, extensive arrangements have been made, including special help desks for the elderly, women, and children, and medical emergency response teams, he said. Special DGP AS Rai affirmed that all officers and staff will perform their duties with complete dedication to ensure the convenience and safety of the Sangat and to ensure that the event is conducted in a peaceful and smooth manner.
