Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Baljit Kaur on Tuesday launched a state wide series of health checkup and employment camps for women here from KG Resorts by inaugurating a mega awareness camp. The cabinet minister said that started today from Malout, these camps will be organised across Punjab to make the women aware of the health, hygiene and employment opportunities.

Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that apart from women and child development and social security departments, the services of employment generation, skill development, health and family welfare, rural development and local government departments will also be offered to the needy at these camps. She added that the services will include free screening for medicine, ortho, gynaecology, eye, ENT, blood pressure checks, diabetes tests, anaemia assessments and distribution of medicines. 

The camps will also educate women on contraceptive methods, family planning, urinary tract infections (UTIs), menstrual hygiene and adolescent health apart from their legal rights. Dr. Baljit Kaur said that these camps will also become a platform for the self help groups (SHGs) exclusively run by the females to showcase and sell their products. 

She added that every possible assistance will be provided to the women by the Punjab government to uplift their standard of living and provide better employment opportunities. During the camp, around 500 girls registered themselves at the help desk of District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises out of which 295 got selected and more than 72 were handed over offer letters on the spot. Apart from this, meritorious girl students of Sri Muktsar Sahib district were also felicitated with cash prizes.

On this occasion, SDM Malout Jagraj Singh Kahlon, DPO Ratandeep Kaur Sandhu, DEGTO Vaishali Wadhwa, CDPO Rajwant Kaur, DCPO Shivani Nagpal,  Urban president Jasmeet Singh Brar and Rajiv Uppal, Lalli Gagneja, Paramjit Singh Gill, Jagdev Singh Sandhu, Nikka Enna Khera, Cabinet Minister’s PA Arshdeep Singh Sidhu and Shinderpal Singh, Lakhvir Singh Dhillon Field Officer, apart from other prominent personalities were also present on this occasion.
