As part of the central government’s ongoing “Your Money, Your Right” campaign, aimed at promoting efficient and timely settlement of unclaimed financial assets, the leading district office today organized a district-level Financial Literacy and Awareness Camp at the Community Centre, Sector-15, Sonipat. The camp was inaugurated by Shri Sushil Sarwan, Deputy Commissioner of Sonipat, who highlighted that nearly ₹1.82 lakh crore is currently lying in banks, insurance companies, mutual funds, provident fund organizations, and other financial institutions as unclaimed assets.

In Sonipat district alone, around 1.63 lakh accounts hold unclaimed assets totaling approximately ₹68 crore. He directed all bank officials to organize awareness programs to ensure that account holders or their legal heirs can claim their rightful amounts.

The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the government is continuously striving to empower youth. Schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Srijan Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana, Startup India, Standup India, PM Self-Employment Scheme, and PM Gramin Aajeevika Mission are being implemented to transform youth from job seekers into job creators.

He further added that initiatives like Vocal for Local, Make in India, and Atmanirbhar Bharat are charting a new course for India’s economic progress. All banks are expected to raise awareness among youth about these schemes.

Among those present at the event were Shri Joginder Singh, SLBC Chandigarh Head; Shri Navneet Bansal, PNB Panipat Sub-Division President; Shri Harish Kumar Verma, LDM; Shri Ajit, DDM NABARD, along with several bank officials and dignitaries. The next awareness camp will be held in Rohtak on 16th October 2025.

The campaign was formally launched by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, on 4th October 2025 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This camp is part of a nationwide three-month awareness drive running from October to December 2025.

The campaign is being implemented by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in collaboration with RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, LIC, and other institutions. The government is committed to ensuring that every citizen can utilize their savings appropriately, either personally or through their nominated or legal heirs.

The primary objective of the campaign is to promote financial literacy, ensure financial inclusion in every household, and empower citizens to identify and claim their legitimate financial assets.
