The Department of Biotechnology, Chandigarh College of Technology (CCT), CGC Landran organized a seminar on Traffic Rules and Safety Awareness for students with the objective of sensitizing them about road safety, pedestrian discipline and responsible citizenship. A dedicated team from Chandigarh Traffic Police, including Head Constable Jagroop Singh, Head Constable Alkesh, Senior Constable Rajiv, Constable Pradeep and Constable Prashant Sharma, conducted the session. Speaking about this initiative, Dr. Palki Sahib Kaur, Director Principal, CCT, CGC Landran said, “Road safety is not only about following rules but also about respecting human life and being accountable as citizens.
Such awareness sessions help young people understand their role in making society safer for everyone. The program featured presentations, awareness videos, and practical demonstrations highlighting the importance of helmets, seatbelts, lane discipline, pedestrian safety, zebra crossings, and the risks associated with overspeeding, drunk driving, and reckless behavior.
The role of good Samaritans and their legal protection was also emphasized. Students and faculty members also took a pledge to follow traffic rules and contribute to creating safer roads.
