Haryana Public Works Minister, Sh. Ranbir Singh Gangwa, joined thousands of youngsters in the 'Namo Youth Marathon' 2025 held at Barwala (Hisar), spreading the message of patriotism and discipline while pledging to eliminate drug abuse.The Minister flagged off the marathon and also ran with the participants to motivate them. Thousands of citizens from the region, especially young people, participated enthusiastically in the event.
Addressing the youth during the Namo Youth Marathon in Barwala, Sh. Ranbir Singh Gangwa said that the Central and State governments have launched unique initiatives such as the Fit India Movement, Raahgiri, Cyclothon and Marathons programmes to combat drug abuse effectively.
He said that the Haryana Government has organised more than 2,700 programmes across the state to strengthen the mental and physical health of the youth, with lakhs of people participating in these initiatives. Anti-narcotics cells have been established at the district, and state levels to eliminate drugs from the roots.
Currently, 162 de-addiction centers are operating across the state. De-addiction wards have been set up in government medical colleges, and de-addiction centers are functioning in civil hospitals of 13 districts.As a result of these concerted efforts, 3,350 villages and 876 urban wards have so far been declared drug-free.
