Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Kashmir along with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), organised the Stakeholders’ Conclave 2025. Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Dr. Owais Ahmad, was the chief guest at the event. 

In his address, he emphasised the importance of standards in everyday life, noting that “standards are the backbone of quality, safety and reliability, and their adoption is crucial for the welfare of consumers.”

Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, BIS-JKBO, also addressed the gathering, stressing the vital role of BIS in creating a culture of standardisation. “BIS is committed to ensuring that consumers get quality products and services, and such initiatives help in building trust between industry and consumers,” he said.

The conclave was also attended by officers of the Food Safety Department and Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO, who highlighted BIS outreach and awareness initiatives aimed at promoting consumer rights and safe practices.

The event brought together regulators, consumer bodies, and industry stakeholders on a common platform, fostering dialogue on strengthening quality standards and consumer protection in Jammu and Kashmir.
