Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal and Commissioner Municipal Corporation, Sandeep Rishi on Thursday inspected several stretches of road that suffered extensive damage due to the incessant rains during the recent monsoon season.  The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration has already begun an assessment of damaged infrastructure across the district to ensure appropriate measures are taken for timely restoration.

He added that officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), Municipal Corporation Jalandhar (MCJ), and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have been directed to carry out repair work on roads falling within their respective jurisdictions without any delay so that commuters do not face inconvenience.

Reviewing the situation on the ground, Dr. Aggarwal emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure that public movement is not hampered due to the deteriorated condition of roads. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also inspected the progress of the Lamba Pind–Jandu Singha Road project.

He issued necessary directions to expedite the ongoing widening work on the stretch and ensure its completion at the earliest. Dr. Aggarwal underlined that the project was of vital importance to smoothen traffic flow in the area and must be executed in a time-bound manner.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to restoring road infrastructure swiftly and assured that continuous monitoring would be carried out to track the progress of all repair and construction activities.
