Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chaired the meeting of the State Health Assurance Society Governing Council to take key policy decisions regarding the implementation of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana (MJPJAY).

The meeting was attended by Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, and other concerned officials, while Ministers Prakash Abitkar and Aditi Tatkare joined through video conferencing.

Key Announcements & Reforms

✅ Treatment coverage expanded – Number of treatments under PMJAY and MJPJAY increased from 1,356 to 2,399.

✅ Corpus fund created – For organ transplant procedures costing above ₹5 lakh, including heart, lung, kidney, and bone marrow transplants.

✅ Taluka-wise hospital mapping – Ensuring access to minimum 30-bed hospitals; private hospitals will be encouraged to set up facilities where gaps exist.

✅ App & AI integration – Development of an AI-based mobile app and chatbot for treatment information, empaneled hospitals, and patient benefits.

✅ Inclusion at PHC level – 25 treatments now available at Primary Health Centres; all rural and urban PHCs to be included in the scheme.

✅ Payment reforms – Timely payments to empaneled hospitals to ensure quality patient care.

✅ Medical guidelines approved – Standard treatment protocols to be implemented.

✅ Incentives for hospitals – Merit certificate hospitals and those in aspirational districts to get additional financial support.

✅ 438 state treatments integrated – Comprehensive state list aligned with the TMS 2.0 system.

CM Fadnavis on Healthcare Reforms

CM Fadnavis emphasized that the schemes should reach the last mile, particularly rural and tribal areas, with increased participation of private hospitals and higher recruitment of health volunteers (Arogya Mitras).“The health department has done excellent work in the last six months. 

Now, we must move faster and more transparently to ensure Maharashtra ranks among the top three states in healthcare delivery,” the Chief Minister stated.The Chief Minister underlined that these reforms aim to provide universal access to affordable and quality healthcare, marking a big leap in the state’s health assurance mission.
