Haryana’s Heritage and Tourism Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma said the Gita will play a vital role in resolving global conflicts in the 21st century. If people across the world imbibe the message of the Gita, all disputes will end, and the world will unite as one family with harmony and brotherhood. He also said the Gita will make an important contribution in strengthening India-Indonesia relations.
Dr. Sharma, as the representative of the Chief Minister, attended the three-day International Gita Mahotsav held in Bali, Indonesia. At the provincial legislature in Bali, he and Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Maharaj were accorded a grand welcome, and the sacred Gita was installed in the assembly.
Addressing as the keynote speaker, Dr. Sharma said that the initiative to take Lord Krishna’s eternal message of the Gita to the international stage was taken in 2016 by the then Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal. The present Haryana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, with the guidance of Swami Gyananand Maharaj, is carrying this tradition forward.
He said that the Gita is an eternal scripture that empowers the weak, supports the helpless, and gives strength and courage to the defeated. Intellectuals from different countries have also acknowledged that the solutions to many problems of the 21st century lie in Shrimad Bhagavad Gita.
Dr. Sharma informed that under the guidance of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government is developing Kurukshetra as a mega tourist destination under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
Identifying the Krishna Circuit, 134 sites related to the Mahabharata war are being developed as tourist spots at a cost of Rs. 175 crore. The construction of the Mahabharata Experience Centre in Kurukshetra is 90 percent complete, where visitors will get an opportunity to closely experience various aspects of the Mahabharata, enabling the world to easily understand the wisdom of the Gita.
Representatives from Bali proposed that land be allotted for them in Kurukshetra, to which Dr. Sharma assured that he would discuss the matter with the Chief Minister and take positive steps.
