Marking a major step towards strengthening fire safety infrastructure in Zirakpur, MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa today laid the foundation stone of the Rs 1.91 crore Fire Station Building. Expressing heartfelt gratitude to Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann for sanctioning the grant, the MLA said this was the second major project for fire services in the Derabassi constituency.
“While Punjab’s first Fire Training School is already under construction at Lalru, today Zirakpur has got its long-awaited project of a dedicated Fire Station buliding,” he added. The new building, to be constructed on 1.5 acres of land within a record time of nine months, will house fire tenders and modern equipment required to effectively combat fire emergencies.
Highlighting the urgent need for the project, Randhawa said, “Zirakpur is fast emerging as a hub of high-rise buildings. A dedicated fire station building with the latest infrastructure was the need of the hour.
This facility will ensure preparedness and quick response to safeguard lives and property.” He further added that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government is fully committed to both urban and rural development, ensuring that people receive modern facilities and improved civic infrastructure.
The MLA was accompanied by senior officers of MC Zirakpur, Fire Department staff, AAP leaders, and prominent local residents.
