Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji yesterday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Gurdaspur and adjoining regions to review the damage caused by the recent floods in Punjab. During his visit, he also met with farmers and affected families, listening to their concerns and assuring them of the Government’s full support.

On this occasion, Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha President Smt. Jai Inder Kaur warmly welcomed the Prime Minister at Pathankot. Speaking to the media, Smt. Jai Inder Kaur expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for standing by Punjab in this hour of distress.

She said, “We are truly thankful to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, who has taken personal concern for Punjab in these difficult times.” She further shared details of the Prime Minister’s key announcements, noting that an additional relief package of ₹1,600 crore has been sanctioned for Punjab, over and above the ₹12,000 crore already provided to the state.

This will play a crucial role in helping Punjab recover from the extensive flood damages. The Prime Minister also announced ₹2 lakh ex gratia assistance for the families of those who lost their lives and ₹50,000 for those injured during the floods.

In addition, financial support will be extended under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna for the reconstruction of damaged houses, while orphaned children will be provided full care and assistance under the PM CARES for Children scheme. The Prime Minister also assured that national highways, bridges, and other key infrastructure will be restored, with special attention to the repair of government schools under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

For the farming community, damaged and washed-away tubewells will be rebuilt, and agricultural support will be extended to help farmers regain their livelihood. Further, necessary funds will be released from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to ensure timely relief and recovery operations.

Smt. Jai Inder Kaur emphasized that Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has always stood firmly for the welfare of Punjab and its people. She added that the Punjab BJP has consistently worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the people of the state and will continue to serve them with the same commitment in the future.
