The Eye Donation Association (Regd.), Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with the District Blindness Control Society, organized the Concluding Function of the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight at Model Town Club, Hoshiarpur. The function was presided over by Sh. Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Honourable Cabinet Minister for Local Bodies, Punjab. Dr. Ravjot Singh, Civil Surgeon, Hoshiarpur, attended as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Seema Garg, Executive Civil Surgeon, graced the event as the Guest of Honour.
The program began with a welcome address by Acting President, Sh. Suresh Kapatia. General Secretary, S. Baljit Singh, presented the Annual Report of the Association, highlighting activities of the fortnight. Prof. Bahadur Singh Sunet, Patron, traced the history and achievements of the Association over the years.
S. Gurpal Singh presented an inspiring storyline and facts about eye donation. Brief yet meaningful speeches were delivered by S. Harvinder Singh, Sh. Prem Saini, and Madam Santosh Saini. Several senior members including Master Mahinder Singh, Prof. Bahadur Singh Sidhu, S. Harbhajan Singh, S. Gurpreet Singh, S. Harvinder Singh, S. Harbans Singh, Dr. Kishori Lal, S.P. Sharma, Smt. Surjan Nain Kaur, Smt. Jatinder Kaur, Madam Lakhwinder Kaur, Smt. Kanchan Deol, and others graced the occasion.
On this occasion, S. Varinder Singh Masiti, hardworking worker and State Awardee, along with some other senior members of the society, were honoured by the Association for their valuable contributions.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to spread awareness of eye donation and with the heartfelt message:
“Don’t take your eyes to heaven, heaven knows we need them here.”
