The work of repairing the breached embankments of the Ravi river, which had caused massive destruction in the Ajnala and Ramdas areas, has begun. Along with the district administration, Kar Sewa saints are also actively contributing to this campaign.
Earlier, the work of filling two embankments was underway, and today, for the third embankment at Machhiwala, Kar Sewa saint Baba Jagtar Singh Ji Tarn Taran Wale performed Ardas (prayer) and started the Kar Sewa. On this occasion, MLA Mr. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sahni were present as special guests.
MLA Dhaliwal thanked the saints, saying that the support given by Baba Jagtar Singh Ji and his followers in this great crisis will never be forgotten. He explained that a breach of nearly 500 meters had occurred at Dhussi, due to which floodwaters reached Ajnala.
He further said that today, the saints arrived here in large numbers along with the congregation and machinery, and after performing Ardas, they have begun the work to accomplish this mission. Mr. Dhaliwal expressed hope that the work would be completed within eight days.
