Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today handed over checks worth Rs. 9.83 crore as fodder grant to 137 Gaushalas of Sirsa district. Similarly, a total fodder grant of Rs. 88.50 crore is being released for 605 Gaushalas across the state.

The Chief Minister was addressing the fodder grant distribution ceremony for Gaushalas organized at Shree Gaushala in Sirsa city. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced an additional grant of Rs. 21 lakh, while Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana and Public Works Minister Sh. Ranbir Gangwa also announced grants of Rs. 11 lakh each.

Sh. Saini said that the state government had already given Rs. 270 crore as fodder grant to registered Gaushalas in the last ten and a half years. With inclusion of today’s amount, a total of Rs. 358.50 crore has been given so far.He said that in our country, the cow has been revered since ancient times.

According to mythological stories, all deities reside in the cow. The cow is also called the possessor of spiritual and divine qualities. Among the 14 treasures that emerged from the churning of the ocean between gods and demons, one was Kamdhenu, the divine cow.

He further said that the state government has taken important steps for the development of Gaushalas, protection of cows, and promotion of natural farming. New Gaushalas do not have to pay any stamp duty on land registration.

He said that arrangements have been made for veterinary doctors to check the health of cows in Gaushalas. In Gaushalas with more than 3,000 cows, a veterinary doctor will be on duty one day a week. In Gaushalas with fewer than 3,000 cows, a VLDA will be on duty once a week. In addition, mobile veterinary services are also being provided for Gaushalas.

He said that to free the state from stray cows, three Gau-abhayran have been established at village Nain in district Panipat, and village Dhandur in district Hisar and one in Panchkula. Facilities of sheds, water and fodder have been arranged there.

An amount of Rs. 8 crore has been released for these Gau-abhayran, which can provide shelter to about 8,000 stray cows. Apart from this, the state government is paying special attention to breed improvement of dependent cows in Gaushalas.

He said the Haryana Government is making all efforts to make Gaushalas self-reliant. Gaushalas are producing natural phenyl, phosphate-rich organic manure, earthenware, natural paint, pots, lamps, incense sticks, soap, and other products from cow dung and cow urine.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the double-engine government is working at three times the speed and is giving full attention to the protection of Gau, Ganga, and Gita.On this occasion, Haryana Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare and Animal Husbandry Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said that the cow is connected with our culture.

It has historical and mythological significance. The milk of indigenous cows is like nectar. Animal husbandry is the backbone of the rural economy. Keeping this in mind, the state government is running several welfare schemes for cattle rearers.

He appealed to citizens to keep at least one cow in every household and to use cow dung manure in farming. This will improve soil fertility and give us organic grains. He added that the government is focusing on cattle breed improvement and encouraging livestock farmers.

On this occasion, PWD Minister Sh. Ranbir Gangwa, Rajya Sabha MP Sh. Subhash Barala, former Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, Chairman of Haryana Gau Seva Aayog Sh. Sarvan Kumar Garg, and a large number of cattle rearers were present.
