AIIMS Bathinda Hosts High-Impact CME on “Navigating Acne and Appendageal Challenges in Practice”

Department of Dermatology, All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bathinda, in association with the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) Executive Council and the Special Interest Group (SIG) Acne and Appendageal Disorders, successfully conducted a regionally significant Continuing Medical Education (CME) program titled “Navigating Acne and Appendageal Challenges in Practice” on August 3, 2025.

The event brought together distinguished dermatologists and postgraduate trainees from across Northern India to deliberate on recent advances and evolving clinical practices in the field of acne and appendageal disorders. The program was inaugurated by Prof. Meenu Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bathinda, a dynamic leader known for her visionary guidance and steadfast commitment to academic excellence. 

In her inaugural remarks, she highlighted the growing importance of focused academic platforms in improving clinical outcomes and applauded the Department of Dermatology for its proactive initiative. The event featured keynote addresses by senior institutional figures who have been instrumental in fostering a culture of research and innovation at AIIMS Bathinda. 

Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Medical Superintendent, praised the organizing team for curating a relevant and engaging academic agenda, and emphasized the need for evidence-based, patient-centred care. The scientific program included high-level sessions delivered by renowned guest faculty, covering advanced diagnostic techniques, treatment-resistant acne, hormonal influences, and newer biologics and procedural interventions for appendageal disorders. 

The sessions were applauded for their clinical relevance, depth of content, and interactive discussions. The event was led with clarity and vision by Dr. Shivani Bansal, Organising Chairperson, whose academic leadership and dedication played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and steering the CME to success. 

Dr. Kavita Poonia, the Organising Secretary, was lauded for her meticulous coordination, ensuring seamless execution of the scientific and logistical components of the program. Dr. Vishal Thakur, Organising Co-secretary, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all participants, faculty members, and guests for their active participation and support. 

The valedictory ceremony of the CME program was graced by the presence of Prof. Akhilesh Pathak, Dean (Academics). The CME witnessed enthusiastic participation from dermatology professionals, residents, and students, and was widely praised for its academic rigor, structured flow, and relevance to real-world clinical challenges. 

This event further strengthens AIIMS Bathinda’s position as a hub of academic excellence and underlines its commitment to fostering high-quality medical education and interdisciplinary dialogue.
