The Department of Student Welfare, CGC Landran, organised ‘Trin-Jhim- 2025’ to celebrate Teej, the traditional vibrant festival synonymous with the month of Sawan. The event was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm and happiness in the campus. The dignitaries gracing the occasion as special guests included Smt. Geetika Singh (PCS), ADC, Mohali, Smt. Damandeep Kaur (PCS), SDM, Mohali, Mrs. Karmjit Kaur Dhaliwal, Mrs. Damandeep Kaur Sandhu, Mrs. Jannat Sandhu, Ms. Simran Dhaliwal, and Mrs. Bismin Brar. 

They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, Dean, Student Welfare, CGC Landran, faculty members and students. Students from the institution put up a spectacular, energetic and vibrant cultural show comprising folk dances including Giddha, and Haryanavi Lok Nritya.  A Mehndi application competition and nail art competition were also organised.  

SDM, Mohali, Damandeep Kaur extended her heartiest best wishes to all the students and faculty members on Teej. Expressing her happiness to be a part of Teej celebrations at CGC Landran, she highlighted how our traditional festivals fill our lives with joy and colour. She also encouraged everyone, especially women, to remember to take out time for themselves to rejuvenate and take care of their wellbeing while caring for their families and fulfilling their professional commitments. 

Mrs. Damandeep Kaur Sandhu and Mrs. Karmjit Kaur Dhaliwal, extended their best wishes to the faculty and students and commended them for presenting a wonderful showcase of Punjab’s beautiful traditions, its essence, vibrant colours and legacy. They also said that commemorating these special festivals helped the young generation to stay connected with their roots. 

The highlight of Trin-Jhim 2025 was the ‘Sawan Queen Contest’ which saw 16 female CGC students compete for the title in their finest traditional attire showcasing their talents in folk singing, dancing in addition to answering questions pertaining to the culture of the state and importance of celebrating Teej. Ms. Pawan Johal, Actor, Punjabi Film Industry presided as the judge for this competition. 

Harsimar, pursuing B.Tech, AIML was crowned Miss Sawan Queen, while Simran of BBA, third year, was the runner up of the contest. Prabsimran Kaur was conferred with the title of Best attire. Anshika, Charu Verma and Shobhita were adjudged the first, second and third prize winners of the Mehndi application competition while Mehakpreet and Bhavika won the first and second prizes in nail art competition. 

The programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony and felicitation of the invited dignitaries. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Dean Student Welfare, Ms. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar.
