Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Tuesday chaired a road safety committee meeting at the Mini Secretariat, during which he approved financial relief of Rs 5.5 lakh for the next of kins (NoKs) of road accident victims. During the meeting, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Bandipora, Mudasir Ahmad Wani, briefed the chair about the recent road accident cases reported across the district.

After a detailed discussion, six accident cases were cleared for financial assistance. Of these, five families of deceased victims were granted Rs 1 lakh each, while one grievously injured individual received interim relief of Rs 50,000.

Emphasizing the need for prompt support to affected families, DC directed the ARTO to expedite the processing of all pending compensation cases in accordance with established norms. The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bandipora and other concerned officers.
