Under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign is turning into a mass movement. In a strong show of solidarity, the District Administration today organized a mega awareness rally in Abohar, with the participation of hundreds of students from various government and private schools. The rally carried the vital message of staying away from the menace of drug abuse.
The rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Amritpreet Kaur Sandhu from the Government Senior Secondary School (Boys). It passed through the main roads of the city and concluded at Nehru Park. Addressing the students, the Deputy Commissioner urged them to remain focused on their studies, steer clear of harmful addictions, and encourage those struggling with substance abuse to seek treatment and support.
Former MLA Arun Narang, addressing the gathering, stated that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to eradicating drugs from the state. He emphasized that students are the future of the nation and should become ambassadors of this movement to spread awareness against drugs. He also highlighted the government's dual approach—cracking down on drug traffickers while providing free treatment to addicts.
The event also featured a powerful short play performed by the students, which resonated with the audience and further amplified the anti-drug message. The city's streets echoed with spirited slogans raised by the students during the rally.Senior leader Atul Nagpal also graced the occasion. The rally through various markets of the city was led by Abohar SDM Krishna Pal Rajput, Assistant Commissioner (General) Amandeep Singh Mavi, and Chief Minister’s Field Officer Rupali Tandon.
Other dignitaries present included District Education Officer Satish Kumar, Deputy DEO Parvinder Singh, Principals Rajesh Sachdeva, Sunita Bulandi, and Rajinder Vikhona, Advocate Harpreet Singh, DNO Vijay Pal, and Gurchinder Singh.
