Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana has said the State Government will buy every grain of wheat at MSP. The Agriculture Minister was interacting with farmers after visiting grain markets at Ismailabad town of Kurukshetra and Nigdhu village of Karnal district on Friday. He reviewed the procurement process of Rabi crop and interacted with the farmers.Sh. Rana took feedback on the procurement operations and directed the officials to conduct the procurement process without any hindrance and with complete transparency. He said, “I have directed all the concerned departments to maintain efficiency and transparency. The lifting work is also going on, which will be further accelerated in the coming days.”
The Agriculture Minister informed that from April 1 till now, the government has procured 37.72 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, out of which 11 lakh metric tonnes have already been lifted. He said the procurement work in the mandis will continue without any interruption and he himself will keep monitoring the situation by visiting the spot.He informed that till now, wheat has been procured from more than 2 lakh farmers and an amount of about Rs 1,400 crore has been sent directly to their bank accounts. Last year, till April 17, about 25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was procured, whereas this time, this figure has already increased significantly.
He also inquired about the procurement process of mustard. After this, he informed that the procurement of mustard for the Rabi marketing year 2025-26 has started from March 15. This work is being done jointly by two government agencies—HAFED and Haryana Warehousing Corporation.He informed that till April 16, 4.93 lakh metric tonnes of mustard has been procured and 3.40 lakh metric tonnes have also been lifted. So far, about 1.71 lakh mustard producing farmers have benefited from this process and an amount of about Rs 1,843 crore has been sent to their accounts through DBT.Reiterating the government's commitment towards the welfare of farmers, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana said we will ensure that no farmer faces any problem in selling his crop. Every grain of wheat and mustard will be purchased at the support price.
