The birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and a social reformer, was celebrated with great reverence and enthusiasm in Amritsar. During a special event organized at Dr. Ambedkar’s statue in the city, hundreds of people gathered to offer floral tributes.
The statue was adorned with garlands, and flowers were offered to commemorate his contributions to society.The event saw participation from representatives of various social, political, and cultural organizations. Speakers elaborated on Dr. Ambedkar’s life, his social reforms, and his pivotal role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
They urged people to adopt his teachings and work towards establishing equality and justice in society. Jagjit Singh Jainki, Joint Secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Youth Wing, and Jarnail Singh Dhot, Joint Secretary of the BC Wing and a councillor from Ward No. 58, addressed the gathering, stating that Dr. Ambedkar laid a strong foundation for equality, freedom, and justice through the Constitution.
They emphasized the need to implement his teachings to protect and respect the Constitution. Highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s core teachings, they noted that he considered education a tool for social emancipation, fought against the caste system, advocated for the rights of women and workers, and emphasized economic justice.
His slogan, “Organize, Educate, Agitate,” continues to inspire society. Jainki also mentioned that by embracing Buddhist principles, Dr. Ambedkar promoted non-violence, compassion, and rational thinking.Other speakers at the event shared insights on the importance of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for social equality, self-respect, and constitutional values.
They stressed that his teachings remain as relevant today as they were during his time. A society aligned with his vision can only be realized through education, struggle, and social awareness.Cultural programs were also organized, where young participants presented Dr. Ambedkar’s messages through songs and poems.
The entire gathering took a pledge to realize Dr. Ambedkar’s dreams by working towards social equality and a just society.Several social awareness activities were held across the city on this occasion, with active participation from students and youth.
