CGC Landran Organizes Walkathon on World Water Day 2025 to Promote Water Conservation

The Department of Student Welfare, CGC Landran, organized a walkathon from Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh to Chandigarh Club to commemorate World Water Day 2025. The event's objective was to spread awareness about the significance of water conservation. 

More than 600 students and faculty members from CGC Landran participated in the Walkathon reinforcing the CGC Landran’s commitment to promoting environmental consciousness. The walkathon also witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, who was accompanied by Dr. PN Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC Landran, and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, Dean, Student Welfare, CGC Landran. 

This year’s theme, Glacier Preservation, emphasized the crucial role of glaciers as a vital source of freshwater and the urgent need to address their melting due to climate change.  Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, of CGC Landran, underscored the significance of World Water Day, stating that Water is the foundation of life, and its conservation is not just a necessity but a responsibility we all share. 

Events like this walkathon help us reflect on our water usage habits and encourage sustainable practices to protect this invaluable resource. Stressing the need for collective action, Dr. P.N. Hrisheekesha, Campus Director, CGC Landran, said, “World Water Day serves as a reminder that water scarcity is a growing concern across the globe. 

As an educational institution, we must equip our students with the knowledge and motivation to work towards water conservation and ensure a sustainable future for all.” Encouraging students to take proactive steps, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur Bhullar, Dean, of Student Welfare, CGC Landran, added, “Every drop counts and it is heartening to see our students come together for such a meaningful cause. 

World Water Day is not just about spreading awareness, it is about inspiring action. Small efforts, when multiplied, can lead to a significant impact.”  The event concluded with participants pledging to adopt water-saving practices in their daily lives.
