Chairman of Haryana State Technical Advisory Committee (HSTAC) Dr. Sumita Misra today directed the Revenue and Irrigation Department officers to send a proposal to prepare a Joint Flood Management and Information System by April 15 so that Haryana can be made a flood-free state. She said a Jal Shakti Abhiyan will be started in Panchkula on March 22.
Dr. Misra was chairing the 54th meeting of the committee today. The Joint Flood Management and Information System will be made on the lines of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, under which a system will be built to make the state free of floods. Additional Chief Secretary of Irrigation Department Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Director General of Agriculture Department Sh. Rajnarayan Kaushik, Administrator and Chief Engineer of the Department Dr. Satbir Singh Kadia, senior officials and Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of all districts participated in the meeting.
Dr. Misra directed the officials to send the necessary budget and related proposals soon to complete the pending projects. Along with this, she sought the details of the works to be completed in the next three years for flood protection. She also said the work being done for flood control in the state should be completed soon and directed the Deputy Commissioners to work on this.
She said at present, work is in progress on 358 schemes related to flood control in the state on which about Rs 556 crore is to be spent. She told the concerned Deputy Commissioners to select the schemes of their districts on a priority basis and get them completed.
